Dear RRC Sweep rowers,
Hello and I hope you all are excited about the upcoming rowing season!
I have been taking care of the first stages of recruiting and scheduling
coxswains and soon Vicki Moore will be taking over this responsibility.
As I've been working to schedule coxswains for the first week of
Advanced and Novice sessions and at the same time satisfy their specific
scheduling requests (due to work and travel), I felt a need to make a
request that I'm sure the coaches will also reitterate at our practices.
Please help us help you!! My/Vicki's big question is how many coxswains
do we need per session? Over the course of the season, it will help us
(and the coaches) out if we know who/how many will be at practice. At
this time we know that not all rowers have registered and therefore do
not know how many coxswains will be needed per session. That's totally
fine and we know that this is the nature of the start of the season and
I asked the coxswains to be patient as we work out all the details. I
trust the rowers will also be patient as some coxswains are still
figuring out their schedule for the summer!
A Sign-Out Sheet will be available at practice to not only aid the
coaches and coxswain planner, but also to encourage commitment as a
team. On that sheet please indicate the dates you will be missing
practice. As the need for coxswains changes, the coaches will be in
touch with Vicki and they will be able to adjust accordingly ahead of
time. This will ideally save a coxswain showing up and then being sent
home, or not having enough coxswains.
For those who are interested, an overview of this season's coxswains:
3 (maybe 4) are able to commit for most of the summer
3 want to help out, but details of availability are not known yet
3 are available for 2-6 weeks of the summer
2 cannot be scheduled but will sub as needed (1 willing to commute from
NoVA!)
Thank you all for taking the time to read this and all that you do (or
will do) to make this a great season at RRC!
Peace,
Amelia
