Dear Everybody (Ben included):

Regarding reservations for Diamond States, Ben is correct that Hampton Inn
is the nearest to the course (located right in Middletown), and it is new
(as of last year), however, it is totally BOOKED for Sat, July 26. 

I suggest making reservations at the Best Western in Smyrna (302)659-3635,
which is only about 20 minutes to Middletown, as I have done. This is a new
hotel, just build 9 months ago, and the rate is $129/nt+tax. Although
Quality Inn in Newark (also 15-20 minutes away) is only $99.99+tax, it is a
MUCH older hotel, and they ONLY have non-smoking King rooms still available,
all others are smoking rooms. 

So, if you are thinking about going to Diamond States, I suggest you go
ahead and make your room reservations, as they are filling quickly. And why
not? You have until 6pm the day of your reservation and check-in to cancel
without penalty!

Everybody:

First, it's time to start thinking about Diamond State, 27 July.  The 
Hampton Inn is nearest the course, but their reservation system stank 
last time.  Cathy did a terrific job organizing it, but the front desk 
had the numbers all mixed up.  So I'm just going to book my own room, 
and I think others should do the same.

One more thing.  Helga (my wife) isn't coming this year, but I want to 
have my car there since I'm rowing in a very early lightweight event, 
and I need to get there for weigh-in.  Which means I have room for 
riders, two or three, who want to split the gas.  Let me know if you are 
interested.
