To the RRC Members List :
Your board of directors has crafted another great season of coached rowing:
--Learn to Row, Novice, Advanced Sweep and Racing
--and Learn-to Scull
See the website for further details - www.rivannarowing.org.
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP. Every year the board must develop programs and hire
coaches before anyone signs up to row. Now marketing is crucial to
delivering the great programs you expect. The board has created a full
marketing campaign and we need the help of members in four areas:
1. Volunteers for Fridays After Five - we plan to take a club single and
the new RRC banner on four occasions to Fridays After Five on the Downtown
Mall - April 18th, 25th and May 2nd and 9th It is great visibility and
costs us nothing. Each day we will be there from 5 to 7:30 pm and need at
least two people for coverage. Please volunteer to help -- and bring a
friend. If you can help, send e mail to jackbrown at virginia.edu
2. Learn-to-Row Day - This year LTR Day falls on Saturday May 10. It is a
key marketing event for the club, and we need about 12 volunteers to show
our visitors the boathouse, boats, and erg technique -- and more to take
them out in the barge (last year we had upwards of 80 interested rowers show
up!) Please volunteer to help -- and bring a friend. We need volunteers
for the 11 to 1pm session and/or 1 to 3 pm (note time change from previous
years). If you can help, send e mail to jackbrown at virginia.edu
3. "ROW" Car Stickers - Very cool 4" round car stickers will be available
at the Spring Members meeting on Sunday April 20 at 4 pm at the boathouse.
FREE to our members ~ so pick one up and proudly display it on your vehicle
~ help spread the word about our awesome sport and club!
4. Talk up rowing. If every RRC member brought one friend into the club
every year or two, we would not need any other marketing. So please talk up
your favorite aerobic, bird-watching, high-speed, low-impact, maritime
endeavor.
Thanks,
Scott Stroney
