[RRC] speed sculling saturday

Rivanna scullers:

Saturday the 10th at around 7 AM for speed practice. There is no sense
being pedantic about the time since we cannot all practice together
anyway. We'll just form small groups either beforehand or at the
boathouse or at the dam. And remember Kevin's practice starts at 8.
There is one matter however: SAFETY: I propose the following, for the
use of the cable, if it's OK.
1) speed pieces and full-pressure exercises to be done only while coming
upstream, from the dam. Use the downstream row for warm-up and recovery.
2) obviously people will want to row abreast and will need to use both
sides of the cable. Let's say maximum three boats abreast.
3) primary responsibility for collision avoidance lies with people
headed downstream toward the dam, since the speed rowers coming upstream
will not be keeping as good a lookout. When going downstream, remember
that both sides of the cable may be in use, stay close to the shore,
away from the cable, and keep a good lookout anyway in case some idiot
gets off course.

Any objections?

Ben
