Friday 9 May

To All RRC Members:

1. Recollect that we are running two events tomorrow:
-- a work session (clean and adjust boats, clean boat house)
tomorrow, starting at 10 am. You can simply show up for this; please
park in the field. My thanks to those who have already volunteered.
Joe V is the volunteer in charge.

--two sessions of Learn to Row day, 11 to 1 and 1 to 3. I think we
already have enough volunteers for this.

2. Each spring we must work hard to market the club anew. After
designing programs and hiring coaches over the winter, we do many
marketing elements to try to drum up good enrollments. This year we
are a bit concerned that a slow economy will hurt us.

So we have added two more RRC-on-the-mall events - Friday 16 May and
Friday 23 May. We have already run three this year (one more is
already scheduled for this afternoon), and they are a great way to
raise interest in the club. Thanks to those who have already helped
out.

PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH THESE EVENTS -- by writing an e mail
back to me in which you sign up for a specific time/task as detailed
below.

As an all-volunteer club, we need to spread the work around. Details
appear below.

Thanks,

Jack

Volunteers List - Fridays After Five

All the Fridays events are on the Downtown Mall, from 5 to 7:30 pm.
We have a permit to set up in front of the old A&N store at 4th and
Main. The permit specifically allows our single shell.

For each date, we need a chief -- really the person able/willing to
get the single from the boathouse (use the RRC green Peinert single),
bring it downtown, and return it -- preferably that night. (I have
reserved the boat for this purpose.)

The chief should also have a copy of the permit (Jack will provide).
And the chief can also bring a Macon sweep oar - the kids love them.
Two RRC boat slings would also help a lot (to set up the single).

(I suggest that chiefs park at the corner of 4th and Market, as there
is a truck/delivery space there, generally open at 5, that converts
to free parking at 6.)

We also need at least 2-4 indians for each date -- to meet the boat
vehicle, help set up, pass out fliers, talk up rowing, and generally
schmooze.

Marketing chief Scott Stroney will bring our fliers -- or he will
delegate that job to a specific Indian.

I need volunteer chiefs and indians for these dates:
