SAFETY IN OUR SCHOOLS FORUM
Parents, students and school neighbors are invited to join Albemarle County
Public Schools and Albemarle County Police Department representatives for a
forum about safety in our schools. A series of disruptive bomb threats in
our Western Feeder Pattern schools in late March has provided us with an
opportunity to talk as a community about safety.
The forum will include:
* A presentation titled, "Are Schools a Safe Place for our Children?," from
Dr. Dewey Cornell, the nationally recognized director of the Virginia Youth
Violence Project at the University of Virginia
* Brief presentations from school and law enforcement representatives about
school safety plans, practices and responses
* Table talks on school safety topics
* A questions-and answers session with a panel of school, law enforcement,
parent and media representatives
