2006-2007 SOL Parent Reports
We wanted to update you on the status of the Parent Reports for the 2006-2007 SOL tests. Our school division has had preliminary results for several weeks, but we have not yet received the final reports from the testing company. Because the testing company¡¯s processes are new this year, we made the decision to not send home preliminary reports in case results were reported incorrectly. The final reports have been ordered and we should receive them within the next week. As soon as they arrive, we will mail them home. We regret the delay and appreciate your patience.
New this year: On-line Student Cafeteria Accounts:Parents Can Make On-line Deposits into Student Cafeteria Accounts With Albemarle County¡¯s New Caf¨¦ Prepay Program
To make payment of school meals more convenient for families, the Albemarle County Public Schools Child Nutrition Program is offering parents an internet©\based service called Caf¨¦ Prepay. The service is a website where parents can add money to their child¡¯s cafeteria account using Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Parents also can view their child¡¯s account at any time. This service was activated on Thursday, August 9, 2007.
Participation in this service is voluntary and parents may enroll at any time. To use this service, parents must first enroll on the Caf¨¦ Prepay website. Parents will choose a login name, which they will use each time they make a payment on the website, and a valid e-mail address, where payment confirmations will be sent by Comalex. There is a small fee for this service. The fee is to cover the cost of processing credit card payments, as well as the cost of maintaining the Caf¨¦ Prepay website.
Visit the website for more information. The website address is www.cafeprepay.com . If you have questions that are not answered on the website, please contact the Child Nutrition Program at (434) 295-0566.
Once parents have enrolled on the Caf¨¦ Prepay website and received a password from Comalex, they will then be able to log in and enter personal information. All personal information is stored in a secure database and is accessed only to process payments and send payment confirmation via email. Student accounts are automatically updated several times throughout the day. The school cafeteria will receive a report of payments made at the end of the school day.
Back To School Night, Tuesday 9/11
Please make note of Back To School Night on Tuesday, September 11th. This is a time where you can learn more details about your child¡¯s schedule throughout the day and what is planned for the year. Unlike the Open House, this is meant to be a PARENT ONLY event, so please make child care arrangements for your children.
K-2nd graders: 5:00-6:00 P.M. and 3rd-5th graders: 6:30-7:30 P.M
Gifted and Talented Services (aka Gateway) Meeting 9/11
There will be a meeting of parents interested in nominating their children for Gateway just before the PTO meeting on September 25th at 5:15 P.M. in room 22. Mrs. Larrick, the Gateway teacher for Stone-Robinson, will go through the nominating procedure and talk about how Gateway works in the county.
Stone-Robinson PTO Meeting Tuesday, September 25th
Please plan on coming to our first PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 25th. It is a potluck/welcome dinner to all families. Our principal, Mrs. Kindler will give us a State of the School address. Among other things, you will learn about the SOL scores and how Stone-Robinson is doing compared to other schools in our county¡and enjoy a terrific potluck dinner too!
A Note About Drop-Off/Pick Up Procedures and Use of Fire lane
If you have chosen to drop off or pick up your child at school, it is VERY important for everyone¡¯s safety that you consider the following:
The Drop-off and pick up lane is also our fire lane. DO NOT leave your car unattended in this lane for any length of time. It is dangerous and illegal. You may let children off at any place where there is a sidewalk, but preferably on the curve in front of the main door. Similarly, in the afternoon, please stay in your car if you are in this lane. If you want to get out of your car and go stand by the front door, please park in an official parking place, not the fire lane. Not obeying this safety rule makes the pick up procedure more dangerous and inconvenient for everyone else. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.
Boy Scouts
If you and your son like camping, hiking, fishing, working on projects, learning and growing together, AND having FUN, then Cub Scouts is for you! All boys in grades 1-5 and their parents are invited to attend Cub Scout Pack 141's annual Fall Roundup on Thursday, August 30th at 7:00 in the SRE Cafeteria. For more information, please phone Gary Pistulka 296-5859 or email at pistulkg at albemarle.org. Hope to see you there!
SREPTO Is Going Non-Profit
Stone-Robinson¡¯s PTO is going to be making the transition to becoming a non-profit organization. There are many benefits to this, but it is a very involved process. If you have any knowledge or experience with this kind of process, please contact Tara Mincer at TaraMincer at aol.com. We are in the beginning stages and could benefit from experienced guidance on this issue.
