Help give SRE Families a Happy Thanksgiving
Imagine you have to tell your children that you don’t have enough money to have a Thanksgiving meal. Now imagine yourself being able to do something about that. The next time you’re at the grocery store, consider picking up a gift card for $5, $10, or any amount you can share. If you can’t get to the store, please send in a donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated. That’s the only way that a few of our families at Stone-Robinson will be able to have a Thanksgiving meal. Please send in the cards and/or money donations by Wednesday, November 14th. Checks need to be made out to Stone-Robinson PTO.
Want to be on SRE’s Green Team? Below is an inquiry to SRE families and staff members from Teri Kent, an SRE parent:
I would like to see us at SRE -- student, parents, faculty and staff -- embrace our environmental responsibility with more passion and commitment. I think most of us agree that we cannot keep taking from the planet at our current levels. We can do more for the sake of our kids and their kids.
I recently spoke with Ms. Lindsay Check at Albemarle County Schools, who told me about a lot of exciting things the county schools are doing in an effort to help, but the day to day environmental impact is really left up to the individual schools.
I would like to get a group of parents who are energetic and environmentally conscious to figure out ways SRE can do their part to make a difference, whether that be raising awareness, pushing more recycling, looking at daily consumption, etc.
Please call me (Teri Kent) at 245-1124 or email betty at betterworldbetty.com if you would be willing to help.

The books and order forms are due back no later than Monday, 11/19.
Important workshop for parents who want to make a difference in the county budget: Grassroots Advocacy: How it works, and how we can make a difference
As the budget for the Albemarle County Schools is determined, let's do all we can to support funding for our schools! In this effort, Parent Council is hosting a workshop to discuss opportunities to impact how we share our message with our representatives on the Board of Supervisors and the School Board. Grassroots Advocacy: How it works, and how we can make a difference Hosted by Albemarle County Schools Parent Council Monday, November 19th, 7:00-8:30pm Room 320, County Office Building, McIntire Road Workshop led by Connie Jorgensen and Ben Greenberg. Connie is Director of Development and Public Relations for the Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA) and the former legislative aide to Delegate Mitch Van Yahres. She also serves as adjunct faculty in political science at Piedmont Community College. Ben is the Legislative Director of the Virginia Organizing Project and has twenty-seven years experience in lobbying the Virginia General Assembly. Please share this invitation with your PTO Officers and Board members. Their contacts to Board of Supervisors and School Board members will be crucial in the upcoming budget discussions regarding the school system's budget allocations.
Jefferson Youth Theater and SRE Special Presentation of Snow White! Auditions are Monday, November 19th after school.
Back by popular demand, Jefferson Youth Theater and Stone-Robinson will come together again this year. This time, it will be a musical version of “Snow White.” This is an exciting program designed to introduce kids to the theater and performing arts. On Monday, November 19th, students can audition for a role in the musical. Every child who wants to participate will be able to. No one will be turned away! Once roles are assigned, there will be rehearsals every day for two weeks (November 26th – December 7th) immediately after school at Stone-Robinson. At the end of the rehearsals, there will be a performance held at the auditorium at Burley Middle School on December 8th. It’s going to be magical! If you have any questions, please contact Sasha Noble at Snoble20268 at msn.com. Scholarships are available, so please ask!
