CiCi’s Pizza Night 9/18
Have a crazy schedule and don’t feel like cooking? Take the family out for CiCi’s pizza on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Stone-Robinson will receive 10% of the receipts generated for that night. When you get there, you’ll see a jar with Stone-Robinson’s name on it. Just put your receipt in there and the management will see to it that the school gets the money. CiCi’s is a great, affordable family restaurant. Check it out!

Gifted & Talented Services Meeting, Tuesday 9/25
There will be a meeting of parents interested in nominating their children for Gateway just before the PTO meeting on September 25th at 5:15 P.M. in room 22. Mrs. Larrick, the Gateway teacher for Stone-Robinson, will go through the nominating procedure and talk about how Gateway works in the county.

Stone-Robinson PTO Welcome/Potluck Meeting Tuesday, 9/25
Please plan on coming to our first PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 25th. It is a potluck/welcome dinner to all families. Our principal, Mrs. Kindler will give us a State of the School address. Among other things, you will learn about the SOL scores and how Stone-Robinson is doing compared to other schools in our county…and enjoys a terrific potluck dinner too!

****Need to get service hours for your older children? The PTO meetings offer childcare at every meeting, and we could use volunteers, including high school kids to help out. These meetings are usually less than an hour long. If you’re interested, contact Angie Boyd at angie at hbapc.com.

Parent Input Opportunity
The Albemarle County School Board has contracted with the Commonwealth Educational Policy Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University to complete a study of how well the School Division uses its financial, staff and capital resources to support student achievement. Part of this process includes the opportunity for parents, staff members and members of our community to discuss their views on this matter. Two opportunities for parents to discuss this study and their thoughts on how we use our resources have been arranged as follows: Tuesday, September 25th from 6 to 7 P.M. at Cale Elementary or Wednesday, September 26, from 6 to 7 P.M. at Sutherland Middle School Cafeteria (2801 Powell Creek). The results of this study will be used by the School Board to guide its decision making in budgeting and allocating resources in the future.

Police Presence At SRE For Drop-off and Pick-up
It has been decided that Stone-Robinson will have police present during drop-off and pick-up times to warn and possibly ticket those who continue to violate the law that prohibits parking in the fire lane. There have been multiple requests for families to cooperate with the required drop-off and pick-up procedure (which means you can not leave your car unattended in the fire lane). However, every day there are multiple violations that put the children and other adults at risk. We will have uniformed police to randomly monitor the procedures and they will have the power to ticket violators. Please help keep our children safe and do not park in the fire lane. If you wish to walk your child into the school in the morning or pick them up in the lobby in the afternoon, please park in a designated parking space to do so. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

Remember to Register Your Grocery Cards and Target Credit Cards! The numbers are in, and last year we earned over $2,500 from local grocery stores and Target credit cards by registering Stone-Robinson as the designated school. That’s free money for our school that goes towards many of the PTO’s good causes such as field trips for the students, teacher supplies, special event nights and so much more. It’s one of the simplest ways to contribute without spending extra money. If you’re willing to provide your food store card number and the first 3 letters of your last name, the PTO will do the legwork for you. Just email that information to Sasha Noble at SNoble20268 at msn.com.** Remember, you have to re-register your card every year. So if you did it last year, you have to do it again. You can also have family members from out of town link their card numbers to Stone-Robinson as well. Let’s see if we can top last year’s earnings. Register, Register, Register!!

Innisbrook Fundraiser
The first big PTO fundraiser ends next week, so be sure to get your orders in. But if you miss the deadline by a few days and think you are out of luck, don’t worry. Late orders WILL be accepted for a limited time, so please continue to send them in even if you miss turning in your order next Friday.
