ALBEMARLE COUNTY FINE ARTS FESTIVAL AT FASHION SQUARE MALL 3/16- 3/30
Next time you’re at Fashion Square Mall, be sure to check out the beautiful and creative art works of our county’s students. Over 1,500 pieces of art are on display. Each school has students represented, and they are clearly marked with name, grade and school, so it’s easy to spot your own child’s work of art or that of a friend.
VIRGINIA FESTIVAL OF THE BOOK AT SRE
Be sure to ask your children about their visit with an author this week. We are fortunate to have Jennifer Reismeyer Elvgren, author of Josias Hold The Book and Holding the Book, A Child’s Life in Rural Haiti. She will read Josias Hold The Book and speak to children in K-2 about life in Haiti. Stone-Robinson will also host Allison Hart, an author of many historical fiction books and horse stories. In addition to being an author, she teaches creative writing at Blue Ridge Community College. SRE’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will meet with Ms. Hart and discuss her book Anna’s Blizzard.

STONE-ROBINSON IN NEED OF A MUSICAL CONDUCTOR/DIRECTOR
Our music teacher, Mrs, Moore could really use someone to help her during performances. Ideally, this person should have some musical background and will be involved with SRE for a while. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Moore at MMoore at k12albemarle.org.

FINAL Board of Supervisors Public Hearing On The Budget Wed. April 2nd, 6 PM, Lane Auditorium, County Office Building. We encourage you to contact the BOS members (bos at albemarle.org) to let your voice be heard on the budget issue, requesting that our budget be financed in full. Parent Council will partner with AEA to provide pizza, snacks and drinks prior to the public prior to the hearing in the room directly across from Lane Auditorium in the County Office Building. Learn about Nanotechnology!
NanoDays - a week of public outreach centered on the science, risks and rewards of Nanotechnology is being held nationwide during the week of March 30 - April 6.
At UVa, there will be a NanoDays Open House on Sunday, March 30 from 2-5 pm, with (a) numerous interactive demos for both kids and adults, (b) multimedia movies, web presentations and posters, (c) tours of our major nanolabs, and (d) a discussion with author Rosalyn Berne about her book NanoTalk (in conjunction with VA Festival of the Book). These activities are being hosted by The Institute for Nano and Quantum Scientific and Technological Advanced Research (nanoSTAR) in the new state-of-the-art research building, Wilsdorf Hall. Please see www.virginia.edu/nanostar to learn more.
BUS TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
Please be aware that you will be seeing a survey coming home on bus transportation. It is essential that you return a survey for each student for the 2008/2009 school year. The staff at Stone-Robinson will be making sure that each child has turned in a survey, so your cooperation is really appreciated.
