READING FESTIVAL BEGINS TOMORROW, MON. Jan. 26th
Remember to support reading in the home TWICE as much this week!  Your students can bring in a circle for every block of reading they do to help build our Readapillar in the cafeteria.   K-2 students need to read 15 minutes, 3rd-5th graders  need to read for 30 minutes to turn in a circle.  Templates were sent home last week.  Let’s get our kids excited to read!
 
 
USBORNE BOOK FAIR:
This is a reminder that SRE will be holding an Usborne Book Fair on January 26th and 27th, ending at the Pajama Night/PTO meeting. All sales from the Usborne Book Fair will help the Stone-Robinson PTO earn free books for classrooms. Go to www.ubah.com/T1322 and click on the Stone-Robinson Elementary e-fair located on the top right hand corner.  
 
 
 
PTO PAJAMA NIGHT IS TUESDAY, JAN. 27TH 
 
At 6 P.M. families can bring their children in fuzzy slippers, comfy jammies and start the evening off with a family pizza dinner.  Then the kids get to enjoy milk and cookies followed by bedtime stories read by teachers and staff in the library.
 
While the children are listening to some great stories, parents will be given the chance to preview the Child Abuse Prevention program that SRE students will be seeing at a later date.
 
 
TALENT SHOW IS COMING FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH 
 
Yes, it’s time for the amazing showcase of talent at SRE!  Auditions will be Thursday, February 26th after school in the gym.  A registration form will be coming home this week to sign up.  Questions?  Cathy Clemons at CandBClemons at aol.com or Sasha Noble at SashaNoble13 at gmail.com.
 
 
SRE WINS BOARD OF EDUCATION’S EXCELLENCE AWARD
This is awarded when a school has met all state and federal accountability benchmarks for at least two consecutive years and has made significant progress toward goals for increased student achievement and expanded educational opportunities set by Governor Kaine and the board.
 
 
 
SRE Student Wins Honorable Mention in UVA’s “Writer’s Eye” contest.
Congratulations to 4th Grade student Adam McGill for winning this coveted honor and representing our school so well.   His poem, “The Blacksmith’s Shop,” won Honorable Mention for 3rd-5th grade poetry.
 
 
BOX TOPS EARNS SRE $1200!
The SRE PTO would like to extend a special thank you to the hard work of Denise Young and her family for their efforts in the Box Top campaign.  She collected, trimmed and mailed 12,000 tops on behalf of Stone-Robinson.  As a result, we earned FREE MONEY to the tune of $1200.  That money will go a long way to help our school.  There are so many ways to make an impact at our school. There is bound to be something that fits your time-frame, area of interest or expertise.  Just contact Sharon Wood at SWood3 at k12albemarle.org and she can help find the right match for you, your family or a group of friends.
