There will be an overview of the Superintendent's 2006-2007 budget
proposal on Monday, January 30, 2006 at Monticello High School at 7 PM
presented by Billy Haun and Eric Johnson.  This meeting is sponsored by
the Southern Feeder Pattern schools to provide information to our parent
community prior to the public hearing at Burley Middle School on
February 1st at 6 PM.

Albemarle County School Board Schedules Public Hearing


for 2006-07 School Year Funding Request

 

 

(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia) - As part of its budget development
process, the Albemarle County School Board will hold a Public Hearing on
its 2006-07 School Year Funding Request on Wed., February 1 at 6 p.m. at
Burley Middle School in the auditorium.  Burley is located at 901 Rose
Hill Drive in Charlottesville. 

 

Sign-ups for citizens who desire to speak to the School Board during the
Public Hearing begin at 5 p.m. Each speaker will have up to three
minutes to address the School Board. However, citizens representing
established organizations may have up to 10 minutes to speak by
signing-up in advance by calling the School Board Office at (434)
972-4055. Organizations must request the extended speaking time by 5
p.m. on Tues., January 31. 

 

Citizens unable to attend the Public Hearing can submit a written
statement to the School Board by sending a FAX to (434) 296-5869 or
sending an e-mail to SchoolBoard at k12albemarle.org. Statements can be
sent by U.S. Mail addressed to the Albemarle County School Board, 401
McIntire Road Room 345, Charlottesville, VA  22902. 

 

The Albemarle County Public Schools 2006-07 School Year Funding Request
can be viewed on-line on the school division website at
www.k12albemarle.org <http://www.k12albemarle.org/> . The calendar for
the Funding Request process also is available on the website.

Our School Division encourages parents to attend any or all of these
important meetings to learn about the budget and show support for our
schools.  You don't need to speak to be effective, merely standing when
a speaker says something you support sends a powerful message to our
elected leaders.  Please listen to the media or call the school board
office prior to attending these meetings to ensure they have not been
rescheduled do to inclement weather.
