A Message to University Administrators:

 

15th Annual Day of Caring is Sept. 20

U.Va. employees lead the way in service to our community through
participation in the United Way 

Laurence E Richardson Day of Caring.  Last year, over 690 U.Va.
employees volunteered in teams 

who worked on 86 projects in the Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna,
Greene, Louisa, and Nelson communities.  

 

    "This is a great event, and it's always a wonderful feeling to give
something back  to the community."

Habitat for Humanity 

 

Would your department be willing to work on a much-needed community
project?  

Just one day of work... builds a needed ramp for a senior citizen's
center.

Human Services

Landscaping  

Painting  

Construction  

Office/Organizing

Arts & Crafts 

 

Each volunteer team includes a Team Leader who commits approximately
four hours prior to Day of Caring.  

The Team Leader is responsible for determining the number of employees
participating, selecting a project, 

submitting necessary team information, attending a one-hour meeting in
August, finalizing details with the agency 

project coordinator, and communicating those details to the volunteer
team.  

 

Important Dates:

June 20                    Team Leaders register their team on the Day
of Caring website (www.dayofcaring.info <http://www.dayofcaring.info/> )


July 26                    Deadline for teams to sign up on Day of
Caring website

 

                          Team Leaders choose one meeting to attend

Aug 3                       Team Leader Meeting - UVA Newcomb Hall South
Meeting Room

Aug 7th week            Team Leader Meeting - In town location

 

Aug 14th week          Project list available on Day of Caring website (
www.dayofcaring.info <http://www.dayofcaring.info/> )

Aug 15 - 31              Project selection process period (selection
done by Team Leader)  

 

Sept 20                    Day of Caring with Kick-Off Breakfast Rally 

 

U.Va. Academic Coordinator, Miriam Rushfinn, and Medical Center
Coordinator, Lindsay Neese, work closely with 

the United Way Day of Caring Coordinator, Shaele Wood, to ensure that
all University employees have the most 

positive and meaningful experience possible.
