Destination Imagination

Needed: A second coach for a K-2 Team 

One person has volunteered to coach a team for Destination Imagination for grade K through 2.  Children at this level go to the competition, but do not actually compete for points. This team will be possible only if a second person volunteers to coach, as we need two coaches per team. Children of coaches are automatically placed on the team and other children (up to a total of 7) are placed on a first come first serve basis. Practices occur generally weekly beginning in early to mid-October and lasting until the competition at Western Albemarle on March 15 (an all day event).

Available: One spot left on the 3-4th grade team
There is one remaining spot for the Destination Imagination team that will be coached by Dave Blaine and Mike Heny.  The current team consists of 3rd and 4th graders.  The last spot is available to children in grades 3 or 4 (or possibly grade 5--parents should check with Anne Geraty first).  This spot will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.  Practices will be on Thursdays from 2:30 until 4 beginning in early October.  A mandatory organizational meeting for a parent and the child will be on Thursday, September 13 at 2:30 in Cottage 1.

Steering Committee Members Needed:PTO is looking for a small group of people, including a Tax Attorney and CPA's or accountants, to apply for non-profit status. If you are willing to help us contact Nancy Beretz nberetz at yahoo.com or call her at 249-8849.

   Cici’s Pizza Night! Thursday, September 20 
Stony Point’s Cici’s Pizza Night for the 2007-2008 school year is the third Thursday of each month.  Enjoy all-you-can eat pizza, pasta, salad and desert buffet and drop your receipt in the designated box before you leave.  Stony Point receives 10% of total proceeds from collected receipts!  What an easy way to enjoy time with family and support our school.

   October 9th is Fall General PTO Meeting Pizza and Movie Night 
While the kids enjoy a movie in the gym, Carrie Neeley will give her first State of the School Address. Plus a guest speaker will demonstrate how to create a safe email address for your child.

   November 9th is The Silent and Live Auction: 
The Auction is the schools biggest fundraiser. Last year the Auction made $7,7,63.00. Volunteers are needed for this great event! Contact Robyn Walker at 974-7780.
