[SutherlandMatters] Sutherland 8th Grade Dance

To the Parents of Sutherland 8th Grade Students:
 
The 8th Grade Dance will be held on Saturday, June 3, from 8:00 pm to 10:30
pm in the Sutherland Gathering Area. The dance is a celebration of the
achievements of EVERY Sutherland 8th grader, hosted by the 8th grade parents
and the PTO. We hope that even students who do not regularly attend school
dances will come to this very special party! There is no cost to the
students and no need to be accompanied by a date. Because students from
other schools are not allowed to attend, all students will be checked in at
the door.
 
Although it is a dressy affair, it is not a prom. Girls generally wear nice
dresses (that one might wear out to dinner). Strapless dresses and
floor-length gowns are not allowed, but dresses with spaghetti straps are.
Boys usually wear nice button-down or polo type shirts (not t-shirts) and
nice shorts or pants (no jeans). Ties are optional. Students do not have to
dress to the theme they chose for the dance ­ Bright Lights, Big City. If
you have any questions about the dress code, please contact Ms. Baylor at
975-0599.
 
Some 8th graders enjoy going to a restaurant or to someone¹s house for
dinner with a group of friends before the dance. This is fine as long as
they do not arrive at the school in a limousine. Again, this is not a prom.
 
The dance committee still needs door prizes. If you or a business you have a
connection to would like to donate door prizes (such as t-shirts or gift
certificates), please contact Holly Gunderson at 978-2910. If you are able
to help decorate on June 2 or 3, please either call Anne Heldreth at
975-0264 or show up at the school any time after 9:30 am Saturday and we
will put you to work. We also still need chaperones for the dance; if you
can help, please call Marcia Ripley at 964-0367. If you would like to
support the dance financially, please call Anne Heldreth at 975-0264.
 
We are looking forward to a fun and memorable evening for all the 8th
