Dear Sutherland Families,
As I'm sure you are aware, each year schools practice a variety of
safety drills. So far, we have had several fire drills and have
conducted bus evacuation drills. Over the next couple of weeks, we will
also conduct a tornado drill and a "lockdown" drill. The lockdown drill
is a security drill during which we close down the building and account
for all students. We would use this type of procedure in case of an
external threat. That could include an intruder, a wild or rabid animal
on grounds, or other dangerous situations that would cause us to contain
and account for everyone's safety. While I will not announce the
specific time of this drill in advance, I will let our students know
that this is a drill when we conduct it. I want you to know that we
will conduct this type of drill so that you will not be alarmed when it
occurs. Please feel free to contact me at school if you have any
questions or concerns. Thanks! Dave Rogers
