The annual SMS carnival will be held on Friday, February 23rd, from 6 to
10PM. For those of you new to the our community, all Sutherland
students, along with a registered guest from another middle school, are
welcome to attend this event which is designed to give our students the
opportunity to socialize with each other by participating in carnival
activities and a night dance. The entrance fee of $10.00 includes
admission to all carnival games/activities and the dance. The two
exceptions are concessions and the photo booth. Food is sold separately
and there is a $2.00 charge per photo.

All proceeds are used to pay for the cost of the carnival itself.
Numerous events include activities such as:

Haunted House, Gladiator Jousting Karoake Donut Walk Bingo

Ultraball Face Painting Ring Toss Pie Throwing and much more!

The carnival will be followed by a dance from 8:30 to 10 PM in the
Gathering Area. We will also continue to have the amusement rides in the
gym until 10:00pm. During the week of the carnival all students will be
given a color brochure outlining all events and important information.
Students who chose to prepay at lunch that week will be given a
color-coded admission ticket itself. That night they will enter the
building at a designated entrance, according to their grade level. Once
inside they are allowed access to all carnival areas. Students do not
have to prepay, however, and can pay at the door. Students must arrive
by 6:30 pm unless prior arrangements have been made with Mrs. Rainey.
Please note that once they have entered the building students are not
permitted to leave the school unless picked up by a parent or guardian.

An event on this scale requires the talents and time of numerous
volunteers!

If you signed up already to help with this event, MANY THANKS!!! Someone
will be in touch with you soon. If not, please consider helping out as
we need numerous hands to make it a success. You can contact Neolus
Walston at nnwalston at aol.com, or Gayle Rainey at grainey at albemarle.org
to volunteer any time or talent to the evening.
