BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PUBLIC HEARING ON SCHOOL BUDGET, MARCH 7, 6pm 

The Albemarle County School Board has sent a $151 million Funding
Request for the 2007-08 school year to the Albemarle County Board of
Supervisors.   The School Board's Funding Request assumes the county
property tax rate, which generates most local revenue, will not change.
The Board of Supervisors recently placed $0.02 of the current tax rate
in reserve for a possible tax break for residents or for other purposes.


A cut in the current tax rate will reduce School Division funding by
slightly more than $1.9 million. Should the Board of Supervisors reduce
the current tax rate, the School Board will need to make a proportionate
reduction to its Funding Request.

 

The ACPS Parent Council is encouraging parents and community members to
attend the March 7th Board of Supervisors Public Hearing as "education
advocates" in support of funding education.  People attending may, but
do not need to speak at the hearing; your attendance itself will show a
sign of support!

 

WHAT: Board of Supervisors Public Hearing on ACPS Budget 

WHEN:  Wednesday, March 7, 6:00pm - (IF you wish to speak, sign up
beginning at 4:00pm)

WHERE:  Lane Auditorium, County Office Building, 410 MacIntire Road,
Charlottesville

                Parent Council will provide refreshments at 5:00pm in
Room 235 outside the Auditorium in the County Office Building-


    All PTSO members are invited to join them.

 

 If you cannot attend the meeting, please consider emailing the Board of
Supervisors ( bos at albemarle.org )  to communicate your support of full
funding of the ACPS Budget Request
