The Sutherland Middle School presents "Twinderella - The Musical" on
Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00pm. Admission is free to the public. The
musical
is a take on the fairy tale, Cinderella with a modern-day twist.

Since February Sutherland students have been at the school mornings and
afternoons rehearsing roles, singing solos, painting back drops and
building
fireplaces and thrones. This coming Thursday evening over 150 drama and
chorus students be on and back stage.

This year the project has become a matter of school pride, with teachers
from all departments helping with the show. "We had no idea how much
paint
you put on a 30 foot wide backdrop!" said one of the many busy students
painting the canvases this morning during art club before school,
doughnut
in one hand, paintbrush in the other. Art teacher, Karen Singel has
taught
perspective painting and shading to drama students and art club students
alike. The show's evil step-brother has finished building the king's
throne
together with the technology teacher, Greg Crow. "He'll just have to
finish
the queen's throne himself next week if my wife goes into delivery this
weekend". The band teacher, Mike Allen, has become the official coach
of
the "Doo Wop" singers during homeroom practices. And chorus and drama
teacher, Janet Whitmore, is in great spirits. "After three months of
very
lively afternoon rehearsals" she said, "I can honestly say that this is
going to be one very fun musical!"

The story: Cinderella has a long lost twin brother living in same
kingdom
with his own evil stepfamily. The separated siblings have enlisted the
services of a Fairy Godmother, a Godfather (he's no fairy) and two
enchanted
gerbils to get them to the royal festivities. The ball and the
all-kingdom
baseball game are both a smash hit, with the prince and princess both
falling in love with mystery guests. Cinderella hits the game winning
homerun when suddenly at midnight the two young strangers disappear into
the
night. The Kingdom's search is then on to find the owners of the glass
slipper and muddy baseball cleat!
