Happy Spring day to you!
It's almost here...Teacher Appreciation Week ... May 5 - 9.
The Why: Your Sutherland PTO wants to celebrate, congratulate, cheer and encourage the wonderful men and women that educate, serve and guide our children toward their future as productive, civic-minded, caring young men and women. We have planned a terrific week of fun for them to show how much we care.
The Plan: Sutherland teachers and staff will be treated to a delicious breakfast to start the week on Monday morning. Tuesday, we'd love the students to pick a flower or two and share them with their favorite teachers. Wednesday, the teachers and staff will have a mid-week break from "brown bags" and cafeteria lines while we cater a tasty lunch for them. Thursday, we'd like the students to show their appreciation with CHOCOLATE :-)! Friday...mmmm....dessert day...baked good treats for teachers and staff!! In addition to a week of tasty fare, each teacher and staff member will receive a "Basket of Thanks". These baskets will consist of donated goods from the community that volunteers will group into themes and package in various types of baskets and containers to create each "Basket of Thanks".
The Need:
1. Breakfast - have a favorite egg dish/casserole you'd like to whip up? A favorite muffin recipe? Can you make a run to the bagel shop? We are in need of these items for the Monday morning breakfast on May 5.
2. Dessert - what is your favorite baked good to make? We would love to have it on Friday, May 9
3. General meal needs - paper goods! Could you donate the utensils, napkins, plates & cups?
4. "Baskets of Thanks" - be creative! Donations of all types of items are desired to fill the baskets....gift cards, books, stationery, seeds, gardening tools, kitchen gadgets, cookbooks, tickets, scrapbook fun, spa goodies, crafts, sports items, magazines, etc. Let your imagination be your guide! What do you like to do? Share that by donating items from your hobby. What is your business?/Where do you work? Let someone new know about your business by donating your product, your service, your time....
The Who:
Volunteers are needed to group donations/arrange/prep baskets, request donations from community businesses and bake/cook for the meals.
The When and How:
Please deliver donations of basket items to the Sutherland front office. There will be a decorated container there for receiving items. Try to keep them concealed so they stay a surprise! :-) Donation deadline is April 23 to allow time to create the baskets.
