Dear Eighth Grade Families:
Eighth graders will be taking SOL writing tests on
Wednesday, March 5 and 6. March 5 will be a multiple choice test on
writing and March 6 will require students to write an essay in response
to a prompt. This is typically the longest SOL test. Of course, both
tests are un-timed, so students may work until they are satisfied that
their work is complete. If a child is checked out during the test,
however, s/he would have to take a make-up test at a later date.
Tests will begin at 9:00 each day. We will be conducting make-up tests
over the following days if needed. Please try to be aware of these
dates and times so your child can be with us for the regular testing
days.
How can you help? Please make sure your child gets plenty
of rest the night before and a good breakfast the morning of each test.
Try to make sure your child is on time to school. This will assure that
each student does his/her best. No other preparation is really
necessary.
The writing samples are graded by scoring teams and results
usually take several weeks. We will send test results to you as soon as
we can. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for your
support.
Sincerely,
Dave Rogers
