School Board to Host First Telephone Town Hall on Budget Jan. 16
The Albemarle County School Board will host its first Telephone Town
Hall on Wed., January 16, 2008 at 7 p.m. The Telephone Town Hall will
focus on the School Division budget development process for the 2008-09
school year.
Albemarle County parents and community members can participate in the
Telephone Town Hall in the comfort of their own homes. In a Telephone
Town Hall, Albemarle County residents who are registered voters will
receive an automated call on their home phone number between
approximately 7 and 7:25 p.m. A recorded message will invite residents
to join the Telephone Town Hall by pressing a keypad on their phones.
Participants will be transferred into the Telephone Town Hall while it
is in progress. Participants can listen and can ask questions.
School Division employees and parents who are registered voters in
Albemarle County do not need to sign-up to participate; they will
automatically receive the call on January 16 between 7 and 7:25 p.m.
inviting them to participate.
School Division employees and parents who are not registered voters in
Albemarle County but would like to participate in the Telephone Town
Hall can sign-up online to participate through Friday, January 11. To
sign-up online to participate, visit the School Division's budget
website at www.k12albemarle.org/board/budget and click on the
"Telephone Town Hall" link. People who sign-up online will be added to
the call list and will automatically receive the call on January 16
between 7 and 7:25 p.m. inviting them to participate.
The Telephone Town Hall is part of the School Board's efforts to build
public understanding of the budget development process and increase
public participation. To learn more about the budget development process
