[SutherlandMatters] Attention Parents of Chorus Students Going To King's Dominion

For "Sutherland Matters" / To all parents of chorus students attending
the Chorus Competition at Kings Dominion, May 17th, 2008

 
The CHORUS AND BAND trip to King's Dominion is coming up very quickly.
They have sent us our performance times, and the bills are paid.  
 
Uniforms:  They do not provide changing facilities at the performance
site.  To accommodate this, you should arrive at Sutherland in uniform.
I would recommend that you wear shorts and your chorus t-shirt under you
uniform so that you can just take your uniform off after we perform.
When we finish performing, you will store your uniform in your own
backpack. Please remember that in the park the school dress code applies
(hats are OK). 
 
Buses:  We will be taking a charter bus. I will ask that you bring G or
PG rated movies only for the bus.  Please make sure that you pick up all
trash on the bus. 
 
Groups:  You will be chaperoned in the park.  You will need to divide
into groups of 4-6 people.  I would suggest that you keep even numbers
since rides usually take pairs of people.  I always tell the chaperones
to give you some space, but to be nearby if you need them.  You must
stay with your group at all times! 
 
What to bring:  You will need to bring money for meals.  Bring a
breakfast or snack to eat on the bus.  Lunch and dinner will be on your
own in the park. You should also bring money for souvenirs and snacks.
Please do not forget sunscreen!
 
 
 
5:45 AM Arrive at Sutherland (in uniform)
5:55 AM Leave Sutherland (We must leave on time.  If we are late for our
performance we will be the last group to perform.  Approx 12 Noon)
7:20 AM Arrive at J.R. Tucker High School

8:25 AM Performance
9:15 AM Leave J.R. Tucker High School 
10:15 AM Arrive at King's Dominion (The park opens at 10:30) 
1:00 PM Meet at the Eiffel Tower to check-in
1:30 PM Optional lunch as a group
6:30 PM Meet at the Eiffel Tower to go to awards ceremony
7:00 PM Awards ceremony at Birch Pavilion
7:45 PM Load buses
8:00 PM Depart King's Dominion
9:30 PM Arrive at Sutherland

Below is a copy of the notice given to all chorus students who are going
to the Choral Competition at Kings Dominion. The trip to It is most
important that students attend the in-school rehearsals listed below.
THIS TRIP IS PRIMARILY A CHORAL COMPETITION AND THESE STUDENTS WILL BE
REPRESENTING SUTHERLAND AT THIS EVENT.

Dear Kings Dominion Singers!
 
During SURF for the next three weeks we will be rehearsing for our
competition at Kings Dominion on May 17th. Even if you are in 7th and
8th grade chorus and have sung this music before, we need everyone at
every rehearsal!
 
The only reason for not attending is remediation in a core subject.  IF
YOU DO NOT ATTEND REHEARSAL YOU MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO ON THE TRIP.
Please see Ms. Whitmore if you have questions.
 
ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED!   PLEASE BE ON TIME!
