            IN THIS MESSAGE: DAY CAMP OPENINGS, BUSY BALL EXHIBIT, OUR NEW CAROUSEL

                  SIGN UP FOR BOOKS ALIVE! DAY CAMP - IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER. 


            There are still several openings in the Books Alive! day camp scheduled for June 26-28, from 9:00am - 12:00pm and designed for kids ages 6-8. There will be games, art, science, and drama focusing on the wonderful children's books by author and illustrator Leo Lionni (Frederick, Swimmy, Fish is Fish). Campers will give a short performance on the last day of camp. This camp is appropriate for kids of all reading abilities. $80 Members, $100 Nonmembers

                  BUSY BALL EXHIBIT IS OPEN
                 


            We hope you'll visit us soon to see our beautiful new Welcome Area and Busy Ball, an exciting new interactive exhibit in our front window. Kids are having a "ball" - please join the fun! 


                  MARK YOUR CALENDAR - OUR NEW CAROUSEL WILL BE DEDICATED ON JULY 8 AT 10:30.    
                 


                  Fred W. Scott, Jr. of Bundoran Farm in North Garden has recently donated an historic kiddy carousel to the Virginia Discovery Museum. It features six painted aluminum horses, beautifully restored by Albemarle County artist Kathy Peace. The carousel will be located at the east end of the Downtown Mall in front of the Museum. Whenever the Museum is open, the attractive security fence will be unlocked so children can enjoy free rides.

                  Please join us on Saturday, July 8, at 10:30am at a special dedication ceremony to celebrate the arrival of our new carousel!

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market), Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water), or Water Street Lot - bring ticket to front desk for validation
