                  TWO SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ONE BIG PARTY - SIGN UP NOW!
                 

                  Saturday, September 9, 10:30 & 3:00 - Grandma/Grandpa & Me - Pre-registration required

                  Come celebrate Grandparent's Day at the Virginia Discovery Museum with your grandchild. Make a "Grandma/Grandpa and Me" t-shirt together and decorate heart-shaped cookies. The shirts will have a photo of you together on the front, and you will decorate the back with fabric paints.
                  $15 per child for Members / $20 per child for Nonmembers - no charge for adults


                  Saturday, September 16, 10:00-11:30, Ivy Creek Natural Area, Discovery Hike for Children
                  Pre-registration required, ages 5-12

                  A family adventure - exploring the Ivy Creek Natural Area with an experienced guide.
                  $10 per child for Members / $12 per child Nonmembers - no charge for adults


                  Saturday, October 27, 6:00-7:30, Annual Halloween Party - Pre-registration required, 
                  suggested ages 2-7, Children must be accompanied by an adult

                  Wear your costumes, have your face painted, play Halloween games - our annual party is always a great time! Space is limited, so register soon. 
                  $6 per person Members (adults and children)/ $8 per person Nonmembers (adults and children) 
                 

                  ONE-DAY CLOSING - SEPTEMBER 12
                 


            Please note that the Museum will be closed for one day on Tuesday, September 12 - we'll be doing      some painting and general sprucing up - making the Museum nicer for our visitors.



                  NEW EXHIBIT IN BACK GALLERY - COMING ON SEPTEMBER 16
                 

                  Our new Back Gallery exhibit, Adventures with Lewis & Clark, will open on Saturday, September 16. (The Back Gallery will be closed from September 13-15 for the exhibit installation, but the Front Gallery and Art Studio will remain open for visitors.)

                  This exhibit follows Lewis and Clark on their expedition to explore the Louisiana Territory. Stay in a real tipi, observe and identify mysterious new animals, navigate by using the stars and keeping a daily journal. Calling all brave explorers to join the Corps of Discovery as they search for a path to the Pacific Ocean. Sponsored by the U.Va.             HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
