                  Teacher Work Day Programs
                 


            Want something fun for your children to do during teacher workdays?  Let them spend the morning at the Virginia Discovery Museum learning about science, culture, or history.

            How Things Work:  Flight!
            Monday, January 15, 9-12noon

            Ages 6-8

            $25 members/$30 nonmembers

            What makes a hot air balloon go up?  How do planes turn?  Why do parachutes slow people down?  Come learn about how things work!  To register call 977-1025.  Pre-registration required.




            Me at the Museum:  Chinese New Year Festival!
            Monday, February 19, 9-12noon

            Ages 6-8

            $25 members/$30 nonmembers

            Learn about Chinese culture, taste Chinese snacks, and make Chinese decorations as we prepare for our Chinese New Year celebration!  To register call 977-1025.  Pre-registration required. 

                  Shoe Drive
                 



            The Museum is a collection site for the annual January community shoe drive.  Please bring shoes that are in good condition to donate to those in need.

                  Take Apart Table Items  
                 


            If you have any nonworking small appliances or computers that you would like to donate to the Museum's Take Apart Table, please bring them by during Museum hours; Monday-Saturday 10-5, Sunday 1-5.  We cannot accept any monitors or other items with glass.

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
