            Support the Virginia Discovery Museum at Barnes & Noble bookfair

               

                 
                 Are you looking forward to some summer reading? You can stock up on those titles on your reading list and support the Virginia Discovery Museum at the same time!  On Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9, from 9 am - 11 pm, a percentage of your purchases at Barnes & Noble in the Barracks Road Shopping Center will benefit the Museum. Click on the link below

                  to print out a voucher to take to the cashier with your purchases. Additional vouchers will be available at the cashier, and from Museum representatives who will be in the store until 4 pm.
                  We hope you will take this opportunity to select some summer reading and help out the Museum.

            Be sure to include a visit to the Virginia Discovery Museum in your summer plans. Our new exhibit in the Back Gallery, Games from Around the World, is great fun for kids of all ages!             Summer Mini-Camps!

            Looking for something fun to do this summer?  Sign your child up for summermini-camps at the Virginia Discovery Museum!  Mini-camps are 9am - 12noon, Monday-Wednesday.  The cost is $80 for members and $100 for nonmembers.  To register please submit the Registration Form and the Emergency Medical Release Form to the Museum with payment.  You can obtain the forms under Programs on www.vadm.org or from the front desk.  
            Camp cancellation policy: 48 hours notice required for refund.  $5 cancellation fee.

            There are still spaces available in the following summer mini-camps:

            Konnichiwa Japan! Camp II:  June 18-20, Ages 6-8
            Discover the fascinating culture of Japan!  Make sushi, origami, scrolls,
            and more!

            Camp Creativity! Camp II:  July 9-11, Ages 6-8
            Let your creative juices flow!  Each day we will learn about different
            mediums of art including sculpture, stained glass, and textiles!

            Food Science! Camp II:  Aug 6-8, Ages 6-8
            Come experiment with food!  Churn butter, learn what makes bread rise, and
            discover the fantastic science behind food!

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
