                  Gates open at 5pm and the game starts at 7pm
                  Klockner Stadium

                  Discounted Tickets for VDM Members:
                  With your Virginia Discovery Museum membership card you can get four $1 tickets to the UVa Men's Soccer game against Mercer, the last home game for the men's soccer team.  Not redeemable in advance, only at the Klockner ticket window on game-day.  Subject to availability.   
                   

                  Join the VDM at the Soccer Game for a Halloween Carnival
                  Tuesday, October 30, 5:30 - 8:00pm
                  Recommended Ages 2-10 
                  Free with admission to the soccer game
                  You can play games to win prizes, make a spooky mask, and get a Halloween tattoo!

            Virginia Film Festival Family Day 
            Saturday, November 3
            First Annual Family Day programs organized by VDM, Light House and the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Speech


            At City Hall Chambers  - International Short Films for kids programmed by Kids First
            Free program, but space is limited, tickets are available a the Museum starting at 10:00am (I'm awaiting more information about the films)


            At the Monument - Chalking Movies: From 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM 
                        Kids up to 12 years old are invited to draw a picture inspired by their favorite movies. Prizes will be given.


            At the Paramount - Peter Pan (1924 silent film) with live music and original songs composed and sung by Charlottesville children.  $1 admission for children under 12.  
             
            At the Virginia Discovery Museum -  There will be a special activity in the Open Studio and from 10:00 - 1:00 Light House will be filming families from who would like to participate in their light-hearted documentary about family and home.  Call the VDM (977-1025) to register.  Final DVD movie will be mailed to you, FREE.

                  Me at the Museum: Build It! 
                  Session 1:  Monday, November 5, Ages 4-6
                  Session 2:  Tuesday, November 6, Ages 6-8

                  9 am - 12 noon each day
                  $25 members/$30 nonmembers
                  Pre-registration required.

                  Want something fun for your kids to do during teacher work days or while you are running errands?  Let them spend a fun-filled morning at the Virginia Discovery Museum learning about how things work.  Can you make a bridge?  How about a boat that floats?  We will have fun trying to complete different challenges.

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
