                    Teacher Work Day Program
                 
                 ME AT THE MUSEUM

                  Want something fun for your children to do during teacher workdays or while you run errands?  Let them spend the morning at the Museum learning about science.   

                  Dinosaur Adventures!
                  Session 1:  Monday, February 18, Ages 6-8
                  Session 2:  Friday, February 22, Ages 4-6 

                  9 am - 12 noon each day

                  $25 members/$30 nonmembers

                  Pre-registration required.

                  Come learn about paleontology and dinosaurs!  We will go on an imaginary excavation and learn about these amazing creatures. 

                    Beyond Jamestown:  Virginia Indians Yesterday and Today
                 
                 Beyond Jamestown: Virginia Indians Yesterday and Today through May 11, 2008
                   

                  This ground-breaking exhibit examines Virginia Indian history from the Indian perspective, revealing vibrant and thriving cultures.  Enter the homeland of Virginia Indian peoples amid the sounds of birds, rustling leaves, and Native flute.  Discover a longhouse with log benches, a re-created one-room school, and the work of contemporary Virginia Indian artists.  The Beyond Jamestown exhibit is a unique opportunity to experience the history and cultures of Virginia Indians.  

                   

                  Co-sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities through the Virginia Indian Heritage Program and Rose and Robert Capon.  Developed by the Virginia Museum of Natural History, Martinsville.  Curator:  Karenne Wood.

                VALENTINES TREASURE BOXES
                Saturday, February 9, 10:30-11:15am

                Recommended ages 4 & up with an adult

                $5 members/$7 nonmembers

                Pre-registration required.

                Come make a special box for Valentines Day.  Decorate a little wooden box with paint, ribbon, heart shapes and more!

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
