                 Spaces still available!  

                  Want something fun for your children to do during teacher workdays or while you run errands?  Let them spend the morning at the Museum learning about science.  
                   
                  Science of Light!
                  Session 1:  Monday, January 14, Ages 6-8
                  Session 2:  Monday, January 21, Ages 4-6
                  9 am - 12 noon each day
                  $25 members/$30 nonmembers
                  Pre-registration required.
                  Light is amazing!  It bends, bounces, and has many colors.  We will do experiments to learn about shadows, reflections, and more as we discover the science of light!  
                    
                  Dinosaur Adventures!
                  Session 1, Monday, February 18, Ages 6-8

                  Session 2:  Friday, February 22, Ages 4-6

                  9 am - 12 noon each day

                  $25 members/$30 nonmembers

                  Pre-registration required.

                  Come learn about paleontology and dinosaurs!  We will go on an imaginary excavation and learn about these amazing creatures.  

                  Valentines Treasure Boxes
                 


                  Saturday, February 9, 10:30-11:15am

                  Recommended ages 4 & up with an adult

                  $5 members/$7 nonmembers

                  Pre-registration required.

                  Come make a special box for Valentines Day.  Decorate a little wooden box with paint, ribbons, shapes
                  and more!


                  Shoe Drive in January!
                 

                 
                  Once again the Virginia Discovery Museum will work with Albemarle-Charlottesville Podiatry Associates, Ltd. to collect shoes for those in need.  Look for a collection container in the Front Gallery during the month of January.  Shoes can be new or used, but should be in good usable condition.  Child sizes are appreciated.

            HOURS:
            Tues-Sat 10:00-5:00 - Sun 1:00-5:00 - Closed Mondays 
            Closed the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and Easter. We are open when schools are closed on Snow Days (except on Mondays)! Just call the Museum before heading out.

            ADMISSION:
            $4 per person, all ages (under 1 year old free) - Children must be accompanied by an adult - Museum Members: Free - ASTC and ACM Reciprocal Members: Free - $0.50 AAA discount per person with card - Handicapped accessible

            PARKING:
            2 hours free parking at Market Street Parking Garage (5th & Market) or Water Street Parking Garage (3rd & Water) - bring ticket to front desk for validation
