** Albemarle County School Division Budget Proposal

On January 18th Albemarle County Schools Superintendent Kevin 
Castner presented a funding request to the School Board totaling 
$127,155,012.

The first public hearing on the Albemarle County Schools proposed 
budget will be held on Wednesday, February 9th, in the County Office 
Building Auditorium, 6:30 p.m.

Of particular interest to many parents of elementary school students 
is the recommendation to add 20 minutes to the elementary school 
day (start at 7:50 AM and dismiss at 2:25 PM). This recommendation 
has been strongly supported by Dr. Kevin Castner and the 
elementary school principals.
