Happy New Year!
Welcome back to school

Come to the. . .  Sock Hop  this Friday, Jan 9 @7:00. Put on your  
dancing shoes (or socks) and join the fun. Admission is free. Located  
in the Woodbrook Gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come join the planning for the rest of the school year on Tuesday,  
January 13. We will have a Fun Fair planning meeting at 6:00 followed  
by the regular PTO Meeting at 6:30. Babysitting is available. All are  
encouraged to attend.


Art Print Volunteers Needed!  Kids can't get out to museums anymore,  
so let's show them what they are missing!
Woodbrook was recently awarded 40 prints from the National Endowment  
for Humanities.  The NEH program is called Picturing America and you  
can learn more about it here:  http://picturingamerica.neh.gov/.     
Included with the prints are historical/background information for  
each print as well as activity ideas.  The Art Print program uses the  
images as a vehicle to begin creative thinking within the minds of the  
kids, opening them up to learning about art, history, social studies,  
math and science, through beautiful pictures.  Ideally we would get  
2-3 parents per grade participating in an Art Print program in the  
classroom once a month for 30-45 minutes.  The head of the UVA Art  
Print program is very happy to come and do a short (and easy) training  
session for both teachers and parents who are interested.  Please let  
me know if you are interested and I will put you on the list for an

Our Annual School Wide Talent Show -WOODBROOK'S GOT TALENT is  
scheduled for  Sunday, February 22 at 3:00. Please plan to attend and  
encourage your child(ren) to  participate. Information to come home in  
this weeks Friday folder.
